ORGANICS DISTURBED – The Series
While discovering mould settlements in pieces of fabrics and canvasses I was fascinated by the beauty of colours, forms and structures nature offered me to see and immediately to interpret.
Here is “Mother Nature” in a decaying presentation, yet, still so much alive and able to construct shapes and silhouettes. The beauty of nature in this process led me to consider man’s ever present impact on his surroundings - influencing, dominating, analysing, correcting and exploiting. Mould is framed, crossed out, opposed by geometric symbols, lines, circles and touches of the artistic human. In setting accents into the palette presented by nature the artist uses the signs of the Zodiac, symbols of moon circles, mathematical signs and forms to show man’s attempt to influence and rule the natural cycle. In demonstrating the process of the natural cycle and human interference, a new harmonious unity between nature as a living element and man trying to lay order into a seemingly chaotic universe is created. Rust is another figurative, symbolic element in this new series by the artist. Steel created by man and left to rot is accentuated by the artist’s influence, thus creating its own aesthetics, and finding a new presence. White sand, black sand, ash, rotting wood pieces and left over material create imaginary landscapes ruled by the influence of man as represented by geometrical marks and accents. The works are painted and constructed on left over pine wood panels and most other materials are used to formulate recycling into an artistic expression. “Organics Disturbed” - by the interference of man, but creating a new harmony of form and colour in the process of exchange
