AWAPUNI HORSES TO FOLLOW
Its a huge Central Districts day of racing with the $2 Million Kelt Capital Stakes at Hastings. They have carded very even fields throughout the day and Awapuni is well represented:
THE TWIST (Trainer Adrian Bull) we have tipped him both days of the Carnival to date and he has not let us down with two good runs. On the first day he was beaten by the flying Veloz who has since gone on to win a Listed Stakes race. On the second day he went under by just a length when third to Tenshi. The key for him on Saturday is the step up to the 1600m after his first two runs wer eover the 1200m and 1300m. Drawn nicely at five he should get a nice run throughout wnd prove hard to hold out in the fourth of the day. Robert 'the Pope' Hannam will ride once again. GO DANNY (Trainer Grant Searle) is in a very competitive field for the Hawkes Bay Guineas the fifth of the day. There are some class acts in this with Alamose, El Cuento, Abbey Way and Special Mission. But this horse is capable of figuring in the finish after two eye catching runs in the Ryder Stakes and Wanganui Guineas. In the Ryder Stakes he roared home for second to Special Mission coming from well back. In the Wanganui Guineas last time he was forced to make his run wide but stuck to his task well to run third beaten two lengths. He has drawn nicely at two and is capable of figuring at big odds. SPUD (Trainer Lisa Latta) we have tipped him on this site before and he has won for us. In the last of the day he is fresh up. He has had the benefit of a trial at Wanganui and likes the 1200m that he resumes over. Three of his four wins have come over this distance. There is no doubting he has the ability to take this out as and he could represent some value in the last of the day. Bruce Herd will ride him once again.
Good punting,
