New Trumps (Ire) (Caduaex Genereaux) stands privately at Haunui Farm on behalf of his Hong Kong owner Richard Hui. So, whilst the website news has been dominated in recent times by news of Iffraaj’s arrival, and the success of Don Eduardo (NZ) (Zabeel) and Elusive City (USA) (Elusive Quality) winners, “Trumper” was not to be outdone this past weekend with the impressive win of Bravo Bravo (NZ) (New Trumps) in Hong Kong.
Trained by Australian David Hill, Bravo Bravo validated his favourite status by storming home from the rear of the field for an impressive win in a Class 4 event over 1200m taking his tally to two wins and two seconds from just seven starts.
Earlier in the day, first starter Master Elite (NZ) (Van Nistelrooy) also produced a scintillating finish from the rear of the field to win on debut with Silver Blaze (NZ) (Don Eduardo) an eye catching third. Silver Blaze is shaping up to be a promising young competitor in Hong Kong finishing in the money in his only three starts.
On the other side of the globe, two-year-old colt Countrywide City (Ire) (Elusive City) kept his sire’s tally of winners ticking over with a debut victory over 1000m.
So, whilst winter racing is settling in in New Zealand, racing in Hong Kong is winding up with trainers undoubtedly looking toward the International races in December where we hope to see the likes of Silver Blaze competing whilst in Europe, the flat season is well and truly underway and the progeny of Elusive City will have every chance to make their presence felt.
