Gooree Park Stud reported today that the first foal of the season for AJC Derby-winner Don Eduardo (NZ) (Zabeel) arrived in Australia last week, a filly out of the Danehill mare Hill Of Dreams (Aus). “She is a nice filly,” said Andrew Baddock of Gooree, “and it’s great to get the first foal of Don Eduardo on the ground for the new season,” he said.
A half brother to Hill Of Dreams by Redoute's Choice (Aus) (Danehill) was sold at the 2006 Easter Yearling Sale for A$700,000 and he is currently in the Gai Waterhouse stable.
Just last week, Gooree confirmed 17 mares that will make the trip across the Tasman to be covered by Don Eduardo this season (refer to story titled Gooree Confirm Top Mares for Don Eduardo in the NEWS section). “We couldn’t be happier with the first two crops of Don Eduardo’s that we have here at Gooree and we certainly have high hopes for them,” said Andrew. “His first crop have impressed us but most importantly, they have impressed our trainers Lee Freedman and Gai Waterhouse so this gives us great confidence,” he said.
In 2005, Don Eduardo covered over 100 mares at Haunui. The first Haunui mares are due to start foaling in the next couple of weeks so watch this space.
