SAKHEE'S SECRET...Big, Strong and Super-talented
Sakhee's Secret showed immediate ability winning as a juvenile by six lengths before going on to record five wins (all at 1200m) and two placings from his 11 starts. The colt strung together four consecutive wins at three years – these wins included two impressive performances in listed company scoring by wide margins and in very quick time, before stepping up to take out Europe’s most prestigious sprint- the Group One July Cup Sakhee’s Secret made the massive leap from a Listed class winner to Group One winnerin one single bound.A feat made even more special given that he was a relatively inexperienced three-year-old taking on the world’s top performers. Sakhee's Secret was rated 128 by Timeform, placing him ahead of star Australian sprinters Miss Andretti (127) and Takeover Target (126).
SAKHEE'S SECRET. A stunning individual It was in June 2008, while in the UK campaigning top race mare Seachange that The Oaks General Manager Rick Williams first became interested in securing Sakhee’s Secret for the stud. While vividly remembering the horse’s outstanding win in the previous years July Cup, Williams was immediately taken with the horse when first seeing him in the flesh. 'He was the best looking racehorse I saw while in England and Ireland. Big and strong! A beautifully relaxed horse with a great temperament and a lovely walk.' Rick Williams With impressive race and pedigree credentials suggesting an exciting stud opportunity, enquires were made by Williams to see if the horse was for sale. At that time the answer was a firm no, with Britain ’s Whitsbury Manor Stud near to completing their own negotiations to buy the horse. However Williams’ enquiry was not in vain, and in October 2008 an offer was made available by Whitsbury Manor Stud for The Oaks to purchase equity and southern hemisphere standing rights in Sakhee’s Secret.
Top Breeders Lend Their Support A syndicate including some of New Zealand ’s most successful breeders quickly joined together to accept the purchase offer. These shareholders include: Sir Patrick & Lady Justine Hogan (Cambridge Stud), Peter & Philip Vela (Pencarrow Sud), Kevin & Joanna Hickman (Valachi Downs), Scott Williams & Partners, Tom Jamison and The Oaks Stud. With this shareholding support comes an enviable opportunity for success. Sakhee’s Secret is guaranteed his stud opportunity by receiving a first-class book of mares, with Australasian breeders guaranteed permanent access to the stallion.
