Chant - (Traditionally ex Chantenay) Champion 2YO Filly
Flying the flag for Traditionally in his first crop of two-year-olds was The Oaks filly Chant. After campaigning throughout the entire 2005/06 2YO season and competing in all the major stakes races Chant was ranked Champion 2YO Filly on the Free Handicap. Chant’s stakes results included 2nd (long neck) to Joker’s Wild in the Gr.1 ARC Ford Diamond Sires’ Produce S, 2nd in the Gr.2 Duke of Though not a big filly Chant has shown herself to be both big on determination and on ability. A wonderful advertisement for Traditionally, Chant typifies the stallion and displays his trademarks ‘good shoulder, big strong hindquarters, nice action and professional attitude.’ Trainer Robert Priscott is undeniably ‘big’ on respect for his charge. Says Priscott in reflecting on Chant’s 2YO season “I had Chant primed and ready for the stakes race which was to have been run at the abandoned Counties meeting back in September. She’s held her form over the whole spring and summer. She really has just amazed me with her unwavering constitution – she’s just so professional and with a gorgeous nature.” CHANT: Looked Set for 3YO Honours Chant’s fresh-up effort in the Listed James & Annie Sarten Memorial Stakes (23 October 2006) finishing a close 3rd behind the classy performers Imananabaa and Naturo thrilled trainer Robert Priscott. Always confident she’d improve with age Priscott knew Chant was back better than ever! Chant’s next race over 1600m (11 November) saw the gallant filly run an extremely unlucky 4th . Again her effort stirred the Priscott camp, but this time the excitement was short-lived. In her effort to gain a run Chant suffered a knee injury and was ordered out for the summer.
MAY 1st, 2007. Chant resumed work with trainer Robert Priscott.
