Foals

Each year Pencarrow Stud spends a considerable amount of time researching yearling market trends and matching that research with the stallions standing in each individual year in both New Zealand and Australia. The other part of the equation is the essential matching of mares to each stallion, taking into account not only each year's market research, but also the physical and family breeding characteristics of each mare and stallion.

In this section are the foals born to Pencarrow Stud's mares during 2010.The stallion that each mare will subsequently visit is listed under 'Matings'.

Sakhee's Secret - Crystalline by Zabeel DOB. 30 Nov 2010

Crystalline has delivered the final foal of the 2010 season at Pencarrow stud. Her bay colt by Sakhee's Secret was the Fiftieth Foal of the year. He was delivered 23 days late. Crystalline will be represented by a Holy Roman Emporer colt in the Pencarrow Premier draft for 2011.

Pins - Perrine by Zabeel DOB. 22 Nov 2010

Perrine has delivered her fourth foal a strong bay colt by Pins. Perrine is a full sister to Grand Echezeaux and has made a promising start to her breeding career. Her first foal Taomina, has ben retained to race in the stud colours. Her second foal, also a colt by Pins, was sold for $360,000 at Karaka last year.

Sir Percy - Filante Etoile by Soviet Star DOB. 21 Nov 2010

Filante Etoile has produced an impressive bay filly by Epsom Derby winner Sir Percy. This stakeswinning mare has previously produced fillies by Encota de lago and Darci Brahma which have been retained by the stud.

Darci Brahma - Huluava by Pins DOB. 11 Nov 2010

Huluava has foaled an impressive filly by Champion sprinter Darci Brahma. Her first foal, a filly by Casino Prince has been retained and has developed into a very athletic yearling.

Sakhee's Secret - Mareva by Zabeel DOB. 10 Nov 2010

Mareva has delivered her third foal a quality filly by July cup winner Sakhee's Secret. Mareva is a daughter of Zabeel and is a half sister to Shikoba. Melito has been another outstanding performer from the family in recent seasons. The stud has retained her previous fillies by Canny lad and Darci Brahma

Darci Brahma - Santagostino by Giant's Causeway DOB. 9 Nov 2010

Group two winner Santagostino has produced her third foal, a bay filly by Darci Brahma. Her first two foals also Darci Brahma fillies have been retained and will be raced by Pencarrow Stud. Santagostino is a half sister to stakeswinners Vapour trail and Encosta de ablo. Her dam Devil's Lair is currently in foal to High Chapparal.

Keeper - Stanica by Zabeel DOB. 8 Nov 2010

Stanica has foaled a very strong filly by leading sire Keeper.Stanica was the winner of five races and was also Group one placed. She is a daughter of champion sire Zabeel and out of a Sunday Silence mare. Stanica has a very attractive Pins colt in the Pencarrow draft for 2011.

Darci Brahma - Dance my Dance by Sadlers Wells DOB. 8 Nov 2010

Dance my Dance has delivered a very athletic bay filly by promising young sire Darci Brahma. Dance my Dance was represented by Lowland stakes winner Posavina in the 2009 racing season. Her yearling filly by Holy Roman Emporer is an outstanding type and will be retained by the stud.

Sakhee's Secret - Vega Sicilia by Rodrigo de Triano DOB. 5 Nov 2010

Vega Sicilia has foaled an athletic chestnut filly by first crop sire Sakhee's Secret. Group One placed in her racing days Vega Sicilia has a Darci Brahma colt in the Pencarrow yearling draft for 2011. She was recently represented by impressive winner in Hong Kong, Divine Kid.

Stravinsky - Madame Echezeaux by Montjeu DOB. 29 Oct 2010

Madame Echezeaux has foaled a striking bay colt by champion sprinter Stravinsky. This mare is a half-sister to Darci Brahma and a daughter of Oaks winner Grand Echezeaux.The stud has retained her yearling filly by Pins and she visits O'Reilly in 2010.

High Chaparral - Miss Sivivatu by Danehill Dancer DOB. 27 Oct 2010

Miss Sivivatu has delivered her first foal a bay filly by champion sire High Chaparral. Miss Sivivatu was a dual winner in New Zealand and is a half-sister to four European Stakes horses. She will be bred to Zabeel in 2010.

O'Reilly - Beyond the Sunset by Gone West DOB. 26 Oct 2010

Beyond the Sunset has delivered a quality filly by leading sire O'Reilly. This foal is a half sister to stakeswinners Te Akau Coup and Don Garcia. Beyond the Sunset will be bred to Pins this season.

Darci Brahma - Pertinacious by Montjeu DOB. 26 Oct 2010

Pertinacious chose daylight to present a bay filly by Champion 2YO Darci Brahma. The Montjeu mare delivered a foal of real size and quality and promises a successful broodmare career in years to come. Her Keeper colt sold for $150,000 to prominent owner, Lloyd Williams, in 2010.

Darci Brahma - Pavan by Centaine DOB. 23 Oct 2010

Pavan delivered a strong brown colt by Champion Three-Year-Old Darci Brahma. Pavan was placed in the G1 New Zealand Oaks behind Tycoon Lil and is a daughter of South Australian Oaks winner Marmalitre. Pencarrow Stud will offer a full brother to this colt in the 2011 Karaka Sales Series.

Darci Brahma - Bartolomeo by Strategic DOB. 22 Oct 2010

Bartolomeo has foaled an impressive bay colt by champion sprinter Darci Brahma. This colt will have a full brother in the Pencarrow Stud yearling draft for 2011. Bartolomeo represents the outstanding family of Riverina Charm, Sarwatch and Paolino.

Alamosa - Grace and Power by Brief Truce DOB. 21 Oct 2010

Grace and Power has foaled a bay filly by impressive youg sire Alamosa. Already the dam of two stakes horses Grace and power was recently been represented by three year old filly Belle Chantecler, who has produced some strong efforts in Melbourne racing circles.

Volksraad - Iconic by Centaine DOB. 19 Oct 2010

Iconic has delivered a very attractive filly by champion domestic sire Volksraad. This foal is a blood relative to Gin Dartre, Dorabella and Crusoe. The stud has retained her two-year-old filly by Duelled for the racing team. She also has a Darci Brahma yearling filly.

Darci Brahma - Eminent Walk by Gaius DOB. 18 Oct 2010

Eminent Walk has concluded the weekend with another Darci Brahma foal, this one a striking bay filly. Already the dam of two stakes winners, Eminent Walk has been an excellent producer for Pencarrow. Two of her daughters have colts in the yearling draft for 2011 and the family presence looks set to continue with the birth of this filly.

Inniskillen has produced her third foal, a bay colt by Darci Brahma. This colt is bred on the Darci Brahma / Centaine cross, that promises to be a force in years to come. Inniskillen is a half sister to champion filly Insouciant and has made a strong start to her stud career.

Boito Belle has delivered an imoposing bay colt by leading young sire Darci Brahma. Boito Belle is a Cenatine half sister to Winning belle and Our Ella Belle. Another family member, Light Brigade is currently fashioning a good record in Sydney. Boito Belle offers a Postponed colt in the Pencarrow draft for 2011.

O'Reilly - Chimeara by Danehill DOB. 13 Oct 2010

Chimeara has foaled a strong bay filly by leading sire O'Reilly. Group placed herself, Chimeara began her breeding career by producing Group One winner De Beers. He is currently standing at stud at Lyndsay Park. Chimeara has a full sibling to this foal in the Pencarrow draft for 2011.

Encosta de Lago - Miss Scarlatti by Stravinsky DOB. 9 Oct 2010

Miss Scarlatti has delivered her first foal, a very attractive colt by Encosta de Lago. A Group winning mare and placed in the VRC Oaks, Miss Scarlatti holds a nomination to Shamadaal.

Alamosa - Alpine by Zabeel DOB. 6 Oct 2010

The fine line of foals sired by Alamosa has been continued with the arrival of Alpine's strong brown colt. Alpine started her career in fine fashion with stakeswinner Vercors and good mare Huluava. She will be bred to Tavistock this season.

Stravinsky - Uberalles by Giant's Causeway DOB. 29 Sep 2010

Uberalles has produced one of the biggest foals of the year, a bay colt by proven sire Stravinsky. Having shown ample ability with a placing in the New Zealand Derby, Uberalles is a young mare with a big future for the stud. Her first foal - a filly by Exceed and Excel - will be retained and Uberalles will be bred to Zabeel this season.

Alamosa - Oh So Precious by Sadlers Wells DOB. 26 Sep 2010

Oh So Precious has foaled an impressive bay colt by Alamosa. This Sadler's Wells mare always leaves a good foal and she will be represented by an outstanding Zabeel colt in the Pencarrow draft this season. She will be bred to champion miler Mastercraftsman in 2010.

High Chaparral - Devil's Song by Stravinsky DOB. 19 Sep 2010

Devil's Song has delivered a very impressive filly by boom sire High Chaparral. Devil's Song was unraced but we have high hopes for her at stud, she leaves impressive foals and is a half sister to three stakes winners including Vapour Trail.She offers an outstanding colt by Casino Prince in this year's yearling draft.

Fast n Famous - Cheerful by Star Way DOB. 19 Sep 2010

Cuddle Stakes winner Cheerful has continued a run of fillies having foaled to Fast n' Famous this morning. Cheerful will present a colt by Lucky Unicorn in the Sales Series and will be bred back to that same stallion this spring.

Magical Moment has foaled a quality bay filly by outstanding prospect Sakhee's Secret. This mare is the dam of Fears Nothing who has returned to training in an effort to recapture the excellent form displayed at this time last season. Magical Moment will be represented by an Excellent Art colt in the Pencarrow yearling draft this season.

Danehill Dancer - Anatomy by Thunder Gulch DOB. 15 Sep 2010

Anatomy has produced a very strong, athletic colt by Danehill Dancer. A group winner under weight for age conditions Anatomy has yet to leave offspring with the same ability as herself. This colt be the turning point in her career being the most impressive foal she has left to date. She will be bred back to Mastercraftsman to repeat this cross.

Sakhee's Secret - Desert Lily by Green Desert DOB. 12 Sep 2010

Desert Lily has produced a lovely filly by July cup winner Sakhee's Secret. Desert Lily is a daughter of two other July Cup winners in Green Desert and Habibti. This filly will be retained in an effort to expand the family which is seen as a key element in the Pencarrow broodmare band. Desert Lily will be bred to Keeper this season.

Darci Brahma - Zino Belle by Success Express DOB. 11 Sep 2010

Zino Belle has delivered a brown filly by champion racehorse Darci Brahma. Zino Belle won the Gold Trail stakes at Hastings defeating class filly Savanagh Success. Pencarrow sold a full sister to this filly for $100,000 at Karaka last year.

Pentire - Marie Claire by O'reilly DOB. 11 Sep 2010

Stakeswinning O'reilly mare Marie Claire has foaled an impressive filly by Pentire. Pencarrow will offer a full brother to this filly at Karaka in 2011. Marie Claire also has a two year old colt by Darci Brahma in training with Frank Ritchie. She will return to Pentire this seasaon.

Darci Brahma - Promethean by Grand Lodge DOB. 11 Sep 2010

Promethean produced an impressive bay colt to start a busy weekend in the foaling paddock at Pencarrow. By Champion two and three year old Darci Brahma, this colt hails from the family of Riverina Charm and Sarwatch. Promethean was a winner on four occassions and was a very competitive two year old. Her first foal, a two year old filly by Darci Brahma remains in training and looks an exciting prospect.

Align - Division by Danehill DOB. 8 Sep 2010

Division has produced her first foal, a chestnut filly by Align. The winner of three races Division represents one of the strongest families in the stud book being out of a Secratariat half-sister to Slew of Gold and Coastal. She will be bred to Pentire this seaason.

Sir Percy - Almaviva by Catbird DOB. 7 Sep 2010

The first foal by Sir Percy for Pencarrow Stud has arrived in the form of a strong bay colt. His dam is the Catbird mare Almaviva, who had the misfortune to have her racing career curtailed by injury after having shown immense promise. Pencarrow Stud will race her yearling filly by Pentire in an attempt to give Almaviva every chance at stud.

O'Reilly - Lafleur by Zabeel DOB. 4 Sep 2010

Outstanding racemare Lafleur has foaled an impressive colt by O'Reilly. A multiple Group two winner herself Lafleur has made a very promising start to her breeding career. Amaryllis has been successful on five occasions and she will focus on black type status this season. Redoute's Choice filly Papilio has shown a lot of promise at the trials and will represent Lafleur in three year old races this year

Pins - Velvet and Satin by Carniegie DOB. 2 Sep 2010

Velvet and Satin continued a strong start to her broodmare career with the arrival of a quality bay colt. This colt is a full brother to Bespoke, a high priced yearling who created a big impression winning on debut at the recent Te Teko trials. The stud will retain her yearling filly by O'Reilly.

Darci Brahma - Shopping Spree by Sadlers Wells DOB. 2 Sep 2010

Shopping Spree has delivered a strong bay colt by Darci Brahma. This colt is a half brother to two very promising racehorses in Kudamm and Via Veneto. Both fillies could add black type to the family in the next few months. Shopping Spree will visit Pins this seaason.

Darci Brahma - Ajfan by Woodman DOB. 1 Sep 2010

Ajfan has foaled a strapping half brother to Raffles Cup winner Big Maverick. The son of Darci Brahma is well developed with good bone and correct conformation. While getting on in years Ajfan is showing no sign of slowing down and the stud will hope for another filly from her to continue her line in the future. She has a two year old filly by Lucky Unicorn currently spelling before embarking on a racing campaign.

Fastnet Rock - Love Connection by Sunday Silence DOB. 1 Sep 2010

Love Connection has produced one of the stars of the foaling crop with an oustanding filly by boom sire Fastnet Rock. This filly combines the prepotent sirelines of Danehill and Sunday Silence, she is sure to be retained to race in the stud colours.

Romanne St Vivant has foaled an imposing colt by Henrythenavigator. The half-sister to Ethereal won on two occassions and the stud has retained her two-year-old filly by Fast n Famous. Romanee St Vivant will be bred to Keeper this year.

Kirin Belle has foaled an attractive colt by first season sire Alamosa. Kirin Belle is the dam of outstanding mare Winning Belle and classic placed filly Our Ella Belle. Another daughter, Lady Maroof, has been successful in South Africa producing Group two winner Fabiani.

The run of filly foals has been broken by a strong colt from Jeanetta Cochrane. The dam of Queens and Guineas winner Saxon produced an impressive bay colt by Choisir. Jeanetta Cochrane will be bred to Pins this season.

Henrythenavigator - Terroir by Danehill DOB. 24 Aug 2010

Terroir has delivered her first foal a bay filly by champion miler Henrythenavigator. Terroir was a winner on four occasions and is bred on the renowned Danehill/Storm Cat cross. Her half sister Santangelo returns to training this season in the hope of adding to her stakesplaced status. Terroir is another of a group of young mares starting their breeding careers at Pencarrow this season.

Sakhee's Secret - Honourable by Balmerino DOB. 15 Aug 2010

Honourable has produced an outstanding filly by July Cup winner Sakhee's Secret. Honourable distinguished herself on the racetrack by winning on seven occasions and being stakes placed in the Trentham Stakes. She is a half sister to Sydney Cup winner Linesman and this filly seems sure to continue the success of this branch of the family.

Lucky Unicorn - Lycia by Montjeu DOB. 12 Aug 2010

Royally bred maiden mare Lycia has produced an impressive first foal by Lucky Unicorn. By Montjeu fron Chimeara, she is one of several promising maiden mares to foal this season who are capable of forming a core group of quality producers for the future.

Henrythenavigator - Mirandola by O'reilly DOB. 11 Aug 2010

Mirandola has delivered her first foal, a bay filly by Henrythenavigator. Mirandola was a stakeswinner at two and is a grandaughter of champion mare Riverina Charm. Her dam Poalino was also a Group 2 winner. Henrythenavigator was a champion miler at three and Pencarrow is expecting four more foals by him this year. This filly is strong and correct with good bone and development.

Alamosa - Macchiato by Nightshift DOB. 9 Aug 2010

Macchiato has foaled a strong colt by first season sire Alamosa. A rich bay with good bone and muscle this colt promises to be the start of a strong line of foals expected by Alamosa. Macchiato was a smart racemare from one of Pencarrows most prolific families. She will return to Alamosa.

More Than Ready - Insouciant by Keeper DOB. 3 Aug 2010

Insouciant has the honour of producing Pencarrow's first foal for the 2010 season. The New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year of 2007 has delivered a bay filly by More than Ready. This is her first foal and represents a very positive start to her breeding career.
