Situation

Sir James Lodge is located north of Cambridge in Hautapu, the heart of the Thoroughbred Breeding and Racing Industry of NZ and home to the renowned Cambridge Stud. The location of the Sir James Lodge property is conveniently central, being within a 1.5 hour drive of Auckland Airport, Karaka Sales Complex and 12 racecourses.

The property owned by Sir James Lodge has no road frontage and is accessed down a long private driveway which ensures it is a quiet, private, secure and safe environment for horses. It is across the road from the Cambridge Training Centre and Equine Pool Complex by truck or physically, across the road.

Stabling

There are three adjoining barns with a total of 24 boxes of varying sizes as well as a feed room, hose-bay and tie-up stalls.
The property also has two loading bays, one side and one rear-loading and the stable area is fully fenced from the driveway for additional security. Martin and Jo live on site.

Private Track

A 500m sand training track complete with starting gates is located at the back of the property. Fully hedged and private, it's location is peaceful and sheltered and ideal for pre-training.

Paddocks

The property is very well maintained, fully post and railed, and all boundaries are hedged for privacy and shelter.

A central raceway provides easy access to 10 paddocks, 4 large spelling paddocks and 3 day paddocks and features mature willow and pin oak trees to provide the horses a cool place to shade from the hot summer sun.

With Breaking In Yards on a good base of sand and fully fenced, this is an ideal area for the breakers to embark on their outdoor experience.

Horse Walker

A new 6 horse walker was installed in a corner of the property just off the main stable block. It comes complete with all the latest safety features, irrigation and specifications and is set on a base of soft, fine sand idea; for even the softest of unshod yearling's feet.

Transport

Sir James Lodge has a modern horse truck which offers a horse box which was built to order based on Martin's specifications and boasts the latest features for the horse's safety and comfort including cameras and microphone linking through to the cab for observation. It is rear-loading and takes 6 thoroughbreds comfortably with adjustable partitions and is fully rubber lined for safety and hygiene. It enables the horses from Sir James Lodge to travel in safety and comfort to any venue around the country with arrival and departure times to suit their needs.
