Saratoga Estate Winery
Situated on idyllic Onetangi Road, Waiheke Island, Saratoga Estate provides a venue to all people, whether you are here to sample some of the region renowned Bordeaux style reds or wanting to sit down over an extended lunch in the Waiheke sunshine whilst sipping away on our Chardonnay or Rose.
Saratoga Estate is surrounded by 20 acres of their own premium wine grapes. Varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Sangiovese and Chardonnay go towards the production of premium wines through meticulous care and passionate winemaking. The recently built winery is highly capable of enabling the essential conditions required for this process.
2004 has also seen the release of four more Saratoga Estates wines. Conors Block Gisborne Chardonnay, Saratoga Estate Waiheke Island Sequoia Gove Rose, our 2003 Waiheke Island Merlot, which has acheived its first award whilst very young, has a promising future if you are able to lay it down. And our signature 2003 Waiheke Island Cabernet Sauvignon Veritas. A beautifully structured wine ready to be enjoyed now with great pleasure!
SARATOGA CHRISTIANS PLATEAU CHARDONNAY 2005 Pale in colour with crystal brilliance this wine has an appealing limey citrus aroma, which builds into intense stewed pears / white peaches and mango aromas. Lovely lush and fresh on the palate with a crisp and clean finish leaving lingering fresh melon and apple flavours in the mouth. AWARDED BRONZE MEDAL – BRAGATO WINE AWARDS 2005
SARATOGA BELL TOWER 2004 This densely coloured red wine brings immediate black peppery notes to the nose followed by hints of cassis and chocolate leading to smoky and leathery nuances. Medium bodied with a firm tannin structure and hearty finish. Definitely cabernet in character, this wine is and ideal companion with a hearty meal. For people who like to drink a more 'beefy' full bodied type of wine.
Saratoga Finlays’ Field Pinot Noir 2005 This 100% Pinot Noir was carefully crafted from grapes sourced from the exquisite Coromandel Peninsula. The ‘endless summer” of 2005 resulting in concentrated, richly textured fruit. This wine has a bright colour with intense tree tomato and sappy/truffle like characters on the nose. Lush and smooth textured in the mouth it finishes with refined balance and freshness leaving lengthy berry like flavours on the tongue. A wine good typicity that will drink well 2005-2010
