2011 Karaka Yearling Sales Horses 22 Jan 2011
We have a draft of four for the 2011 Sales headed by a Domesday - Longwood filly.
Domesday is a sire sensation in Australia this season. He sired three 3 year old stakeswinners at the 2010 Victorian Racing Carnival - Pressday (GII), Divorces (GIII) & Backgammon (L). He also sired stakesplaced 3 year olds Giresun (2nd in a GIII) and Domesky (2nd in LR). In 2011 he has sired good winners Turbo King (HK), and other winners at Randwick & Caulfield.

Our Domesday filly is one of the best bred Domesday yearlings from his 2009 foal crop and the only Domesday yearling to be offered at main 2011 Yearling sales - Magic Millions, Karaka and Sydney Easter.

Woodbine Breds are Performing 13 Aug 2010
We are very proud of the race results of recent Woodbine breds:

August 2010
Our Australian bred 3 year old Footprintinthesand by Footstepsinthesand ex Kasey Ann won her 1st start over 1000m very impressively at Coffs Harbour.

Stakes performed winner Star Chaser ran 2nd at Taupo on 13th August. Watch for his Singapore based 3 yr old brother Torments to race in the near future.

July 2010
Malaysian based Mayo's Dancer won his 3rd race from his last 4 starts. His wins have been at 1400m, 1600m and 1800m.

Berlin Wall (formerly Gallarate ran 2nd over 1600m in Malaysia.

Woodbine Breds fire in Asia - Mayo's Dancer 25 Jul 2010
Our Chianti bred horses have achieved useful results in Asia in 2010.
On 25 July 2010 in Malaysia Berlin Wall (previously called Gallarate) ex Comely Girl ran 2nd over 1600m to be followed by Mayo's Dancer (ex Top Dance) winning over 1400m. Mayo's Dancer is now the winner of 3 of his past 4 starts (running 3rd in between) and is shaping as a promising galloper.

Rotorua (by Chianti) - a 2 year old colt in Michael Clement's Singapore yard ran an outstanding 2nd in the Group III Magic Millions Classic 1200m at his 2nd career start. He was beaten 1.25 lengths but there was 3.5 lengths to the 3rd horse. This horse looks like an outstanding 3 year old prospect and like Tuscan Spirit in Hong Kong he is carrying Chianti's flag very well in Asia.

Boyle (by Chianti) continues to run good placings in Singapore and Tuscan Spirit is flying Chianti's flag in Hong Kong.

Our home bred rising 3 year old filly - Chianti - Comely Girl has been broken in and will shortly be entering work. She will be a runner.

Chianti is yet to have a runner in Australia.

A rising Hong Kong star Tremendous Add 17 May 2010
This young horse won his 2nd race in Hong Kong yesterday over 1400m by 2 lengths. His win was very impressive as he was a class 4 horse running in a class 3 race.

We own his dam Laura Baker by Theatrical.

2010 Weanling & Broodmare Sales 17 May 2010
We had mixed results from our 2010 draft but we achieved our best price for a weanling when the Chianti - Fortelo colt made $48,000. Our other weanlings sold from $2,000 to $10,000. Many of these weanlings were late foals and the market is expecting strong well grown types.

We offered 4 mares and sold 3. Our star lot was Fortelo in foal to a late service to Ifraajj and she sold for $30,000.

Great Racing Anzac Weekend - 25 Apr 2010
There were several Woodbine graduates that raced with distinction this weekend:

Abelard ran 3rd over 1,200m at Riccarton after winning her last start at Wingatui. We race Abelard with close friend Jeremy Turner a former CEO of Queensland Racing, and Abelard was his first winner;

Lovedale (Abelard's older 1/2 sister which is raced on lease) finished 2nd over 2,100m at Tauranga after winning her previous start by 5 lengths at Rotorua;

Divorces, a 2 yr old daughter of very promising freshman sire Domesday finished a close up 3rd inthe AJC Champagne Stakes GI. We own the only two 2009 NZ foals by Domesday including a filly from a 1/2 sister to Champion Tycoon Lil.

Tremendous Add, a son of our mare Laura Baker ran 2nd (beaten by short head) over 1,600m in Hong Kong.

Tuscan Spirit now a Group I performed horse 24 Jan 2010
Our home bred 4 year old Tuscan Spirit (Chianti ex Fortelo) finished a very creditable 3rd in the HKJC Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Classic Mile (Group I) at Shatin today. This was the horse's first start beyond 1400m and he was ridden by Craig Williams.

The trainer - John Size has a plan to race Tuscan Spirit in the Derby Trial 1800m (Group II) and then the Hong Kong Derby 2000m (Group I) later this season. This is a very interesting campaign when you consider that Tuscan Spirit is a excellent sprinter winning over 1000m and 1200m last season over horses such as One World - 2nd in last year's International Sprint (Group I).

Our 2009 Foal Crop 25 Dec 2009
We have our best crop foals on the ground we have bred and many will be offered at the 2010 National Weanling Sale.

Our 2009 foals are:

Danroad ex Bouquet Toss (Nureyev)
Chianti ex Fortelo (Armidale)
Chianti ex Lugano (Balmerino
Domesday ex Kasey Ann (Monongahela
Quest for Fame ex Lady Ayers (Bigstone
Spartacus ex Ficcio (Zoffany)
Refuse to Bend ex Spontaneous Miss (Riverman)
Danger Looms ex Christina (Daggers Drawn)

Domesday ex Longwood (Dolphin Street)
Chianti ex Head Enfilade (Mr Henrysee)
Elusive City ex Hucktooie (Lion Hunter)

Points of interest are the full brother to Tuscan Spirit and the two foals by promising Australian 1st season sire Domesday.

NZ Thoroughbred Breeders Association News Item 11 Jul 2009
Breeders' Relative Costs are Too High" By Michelle Saba 09 Jul 2009

“The domestic breeding industry has lost its way when it should be a very attractive business to invest in particularly as New Zealand has the best tax effective regime in the world,” according to Chris Luoni, the recently elected Northern Region representative to the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Association Council.

“We have had numerous studies about the falling foal crop and its consequences but no substantial action plan to increase the foal crop. The industry has to develop better market opportunities for people to breed thoroughbreds and this must involve New Zealand Bloodstock and the buyers of our horses.

As a recently retired partner in Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Chris is well qualified to comment on such matters. He is also a company director operating several small businesses and is the owner of a small breeding farm Woodbine Farm based at Matangi near Hamilton. He has time and energy to devote to the Council and is looking forward to being involved with the NZTBA Council.

“Stallion service fees are far too high relative to the New Zealand market place for their progeny and this is being addressed with many breeders not breeding their mares. There is a limited market place for fillies and I would like to see stallion owners following the Bahare – Rich Hill Stud model offering a 50% reduced service fee if a filly is born.

“The input costs for breeders have increased significantly with vet fees and freight costs being the major contributors but there is some competition in this area for the forthcoming season which is pleasing.

“Some breeders have decided not to breed but to pin hook weanlings from Australia instead and re-present them at the New Zealand sales and this is now happening in a big way. As well there are a number who are choosing to leave their mares empty this year.

“Such mares still have significant carrying costs and one year left empty is a year lost. I would encourage such breeders to introduce themselves to stud masters and discuss an opportunity for them to breed their mares. I would also encourage stud masters to undertake market research on breeders in their area and then approach them about breeding their mares. I am sure that both parties can come to a suitable business arrangement.

“Right now I think that the New Zealand breeding industry is in a similar state to the New Zealand dairy industry with significantly falling financial returns. It is time for every breeder to review their business in a non-emotional basis and we should seek advice from others. I am certainly doing this at present.

“Every breeder has to regularly assess the business viability of their breeding stock when deciding to mate mares. Each mare should have a good pedigree and be capable of having progeny at the top end of the Karaka Festival yearling sale before you consider breeding such mares for sale purposes. However if a breeder is breeding to race then there are different considerations,” he concluded.
Chris himself has substantial interests in the industry he has ownership shares in 12 broodmares and several stallions including Chianti, Kashani, Dance Floor and Danger Looms.

Although his father bred and raced horses from the family farm in Te Hoe in the Waikato, Chris’s interest in the industry was probably nurtured while he was at boarding school in Wellington, this interest grew when in the early 1970’s his office was next to the offices of Best Bets where Steve Brem, Stu Laing and Des Coppins were on the staff.

“In 1975 I went to Montreal to work, and stayed there until 1981. While I was overseas my father raced and bred Happy Union who won four Group One races, and competed in the Melbourne Cup. This really along with attending Canadian Melbourne Cup parties and subscribing to the weekly issues of the US Bloodhorse magazine really cemented my interest in racing.

“I purchased my first mare in 1988 Drallam(Desperate Dee-Pride of Priory) and my first foal was a Roman Empire colt later named Armageddon who was Group III placed and a listed stakeswinner as a two-year-old. The next mare I purchased was an American bred and United Kingdom performed mare Double Sandbags(Nodouble-Honey Sand) who was my foundation broodmare. Her progeny continue to win with her last foal Roualyn a recent winner and her grandson Geeorb winning recently in Melbourne.

“In 1993 I purchased a small farming property in Te Kowhai and in the same year I also purchased a second mare called Lillibet with my good friend the late David Johns. We bred some good horses form Double Sandbags and Lillibet including the stakes winners Oliverdance (ex Lillibet) and Ma Danseuse (ex Double sandbags) and my interest in breeding grew from that time,” he said.

Chris is also the breeder of the current promising gallopers; Tuscan Spirit (Chianti - Fortelo), Lauaki (E Dubai-Our Sally), and Lovedale (San Luis-Chiming In). He is a member of the Waikato Branch of the Association but has not previously been involved with that branch at administration level. However he was involved with the NZTBA for a brief period during the 1980’s as a member of the Taxation Committee. Chris has been involved over the years in various governance and professional roles in New Zealand and Australia for organisations such as the Australian Racing Board, Waikato Racing Club, Ra Ora Stud, and the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame. All of which should augur well for his new role as a NZTBA councillor.

“While I am on the Council I would like to see the NZTBA to be a participant in all sections of the New Zealand racing industry. This is partially achieved through representation on the NZTR Board, but who knows what will become of that after September. I would like to see a close and respected association established with our sister Australian body – The Australian Bloodhorse Breeders as we have much to learn from each other. I also believe we need a strong regional branch network with all branches working together effectively, and these are some of the issues I am looking forward to working on at Council level,” he enthused.

Woodbine Horses racing news 7 May 2009
Lovedale starts this Saturday. This capable mare has been very unlucky in so many starts, and will hopefully redeem herself if given a better chance by her rider.

Lauaki has his first start in Brisbane. He is balloted out in the Group III 3 year old race so will start in a regular race. He has drawn a horror barrier so will need a lot of luck. Scott Seamer will ride him.

Broodmare Purchases 7 May 2009
We purchased two mares at the 2009 Broodmare Sales -

Hucktooie - 1999 (Lion Hunter - Hi Raffin) in foal to Elusive City. This mare was owned by the Melbourne trainer - Peter Moody and he has three foals in his stable. This mare was a winner at 2 and also a winner at Caulfield.

Ficcio - 1992 (Zoffany - Extravagance)in foal to Spartacus. This mare is the dam of Calm Smytzer - a multiple Group placed winner and three other winners.

Both these mares were purchased for the foetuses they are carrying, and will be bred to one of our stallions.

2009 Weanling & Broodmare Sales 7 May 2009
Woodbine Farm offered its second draft of weanling colts at Karaka. The sale results indicated that the market had dropped and we experienced the same. We were happy with our results selling 4 colts on the first day for an average of $12,875 (Number 6 on Vendors' List by average and aggregate). On the second day we sold two colts by Danger Looms ($4,000) and Dance Floor ($5,000) which were satisfactory results.

We thank all people who inspected our horses and also the Woodbine Team - Tim, Rosie, Cara and myself (the cleaner of horse stables). We enjoyed our time at Karaka and will be back again in 2010.

Our foundation mare - Double Sandbags lives on 10 Apr 2009
In 1990 we purchased our foundation mare Double Sandbags (US bred by Nodouble). "Double" died in 2004 at the age of 22 years.

Double had many useful foals for us including several fillies that have become good broodmares. Her 10 win stakeswinning Dance Floor mare Ma Danseuse is the dam of the Group II placed Old Jock who starts tomorrow in the Group I AJC Derby at Randwick. Her Lord Ballina daughter Windfields is the dam of the Stephen McKee trained gelding Kings Win who is striving for his 4th successive win at Ellerslie tomorrow.

The Winners' Circle 2 Apr 2009
Tuscan Spirt is carrying our flag with outstanding form in Hong Kong winning his last four starts. His trainer is planning to start him in the Group I international sprint in Singapore in May.
Tuscan Spirit has featured in the international television show Racing Around the World with his last three wins.

Our home bred and 20% owned 3 year old gelding Lauaki won his 2nd race at Te Aroha. He now heads for Hastings on 18th April and possibly then on to Queensland for their winter carnival.

Our home bred and 50% owned mare Lovedale won her second start at Paeroa recently. This athletic mare has been very unlucky in her recent starts and there is a good win in her shortly.

Roualyn the last foal of our foundation mare Double Sandbags is a recent winner.

Chianti is achieving some results with first starter Boyle running 2nd in Singapore over 1200m on 29 March and our home bred Northern Moud winning a trial recently.

Hong Kong rising star - Tuscan Spirit 28 Feb 2009
Our home bred 3 year old Tuscan Spirit is being touted as one of Hong Kong's rising stars after his empathic 3 length win (carrying 60 kgs) over 1200m in February 2009. Tuscan Spirit is trained by Champion trainer - John Size and was ridden by Douglas Whyte. His next start will be in a Class 2 race.

Tuscan Spirit is the highest rated Hong Kong based 3 year old at present.

Our other home bred 3 year old Lauaki will be starting in New Zealand shortly and will be possibly headed for the Brisbane winter carnival.

Our 3 year old filly Abelard ran an impressive first up 3rd over 1100m on 27th February and is now heading to a stakes race for 3 year old fillies next Saturday.

NZ Bloodstock Weanling Sale Achievements 12 May 2008
Woodbine Farm had its first draft for a thoroughbred sale with the Weanling Sales. We offered 4 weanling colts and sold 3 for an average of $24,666 - achieving 3rd highest vendor on sale averages.

We acknowledge the Woodbine Team - Tim Welch (an extraordinary horseman), Geoff Roan and his partner - Orla Fahey. Orla is an equine vet with Hamilton Vets and Geoff is the former Stallion manager at Cambridge Stud and is now an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Hamilton.

The stock of our stallion - Chianti was again well received by the market place and he was 8th leading sire on averages at $22,467 - probably the best value for service fee of all stallions selling.

We thank the purchasers of our horses and look forward to following the horses progress in the years to come.

Chianti's achieves his first winner - Tuscan Spirit 20 Apr 2008
Our home bred Tuscan Spirit became Chianti's first winner when impressively winning the 2 year old race at Tauranga yesterday - over 1200m.

Chianti has had two runners to date so it is a small milestone to have his first winner. His dam Fortelo was a $600 purchase at Karaka in May 2004. She was destined for a career as a polocrosse pony, until we purchased her from the King Country farmer. Fortelo is in foal to dual Group I winner Castledale and will probably return to Chianti this season.

Our second home bred winner was Roualyn who won his second race at Canterbury in the past two weeks. His dam Double Sandbags was our foundation broodmare. This horse is destined fo higher honours.

Our first sales draft - 2008 Weanling Sales 22 Mar 2008
Woodbine Farm is presenting its first sales draft at the 2008 Weanling Sales

We have four colts for sale:

Align - Danezza (Danehill) colt
Handsome Ransom - Excerpts (Stravinsky) colt
Chianti - Love A Song (Unbridled's Song) colt
Chianti - Head Enfilade (Mr Henrysee) colt.

These colts are all correct, well grown and running types. Our draft is being presented by Geoff Roan and Tim Welch.

Trentham results and some promising trials 20 Jan 2008
On Saturday 19th January we had two starters. Our home bred Roulayn ex Double Sandbags ran a meritious 2nd in a $40,000 premier race over 1400m, and Bruxaar finished 3rd in the Group 3 Wellington Stakes over 1600m - his first stakes placing. Hopefully we will see this talented galloper race again in NZ and that he is not sold offshore as the offers have been very tempting.

On Wednesday 16th January our home bred 3 year old an unnamed Deputy Governor - Danezza (by Danehill) won his first trial over 1000m by 3.5 lengths. We have a strong 2007 Align colt ex Danezza which is headed to the 2008 NZ Weanling Sales.

Also delighted to see Fantastic Light have a great Saturday's racing with a Group 2 2yr old stakes winner and a Group 3 2nd place getter at Trentham. We have a strong yearling filly by Fantastic Light ex Fairy Princess which will be broken in shortly.

Woodbine Lass wins at Kumara on the West Coast 14 Jan 2008
Our mare Woodbine Lass won at Kumara over 1100 metres on Saturday 12 January 2008. She is our first winner for 2008.

Woodbine Lass (Senor Pete ex Chiming In) had run a good 3rd at her previous start on the Coast. Her 1/2 sister Lovedale ran 3rd over 1400m at Tauranga last week.

The unnamed 2 year old 1/2 sister (Kashani - Chiming In) has been in pre training and will be joining Danny Frye's stable at Rangiora this week.

Bruxaar is one of NZ's most promising gallopers 14 Jan 2008
Bruxaar ex our mare Kindergarten won his last start like a champion running the last 600m in 33 seconds. His next start is the Group III Wellington Stakes and we look forward to a similar performance.

This horse has attracted ridiculous offers from abroad but hopefully the owners will be tempted to have a crack at the NZ Derby and resist the Hong Kong and other offers in the short term.

Winning ways in Hong Kong 27 Dec 2007
Horses from current or former Woodbine Farm mares ran on Boxing Day at Shatin with two winners - Firm Offer (ex Initial Offering) winning HKJC Lantau Peak Hcp 1400m (HK$1,050,000); Withallmyheart (ex Trapeze) winning HKJC Robin's Nest Hcp 1400m and Captain Bunny (ex Chiming In) running 3rd in HKJC Pat Sin Leong Hcp 1800m

News about Dance Floor 26 Dec 2007
We are receiving regular enquiries about Dance Floor from horse people in the United States requesting news and pictures. Last month Jenny Keenan of Long Grove Illinois wrote to us and we appreciate receiving enquiries. We are pleased to report that Dance Floor is in good health and has a wonderful home at Ashford Park Stud near Wellington (NZ's capital city).

He successfully served 3 of our mares - Lillibet Irish (O'Reilly - Lillibet) and a 1/2 sister to our Dance Floor stakeswinner Oliverdance, Twinklebelle (Star Way - Tristabelle) and a close relation to Dance Floor's best broodmare Gypsy Dancer - dam of Dance Hero, and Danezza - a daughter of Danehill. We have two yearlings by Dance Floor which we will race. They will be broken in shortly.

Cullever wins Manawatu Racing Club Rich Hill Stud 3 Yr race - $30,000 26 Dec 2007
Cullever (ex Dance Forever by Zabeel) scored a major upset on Saturday 22nd December when she beat a field that included many mutiple winners of promising 3 year olds. Cullever was a maiden, racing out of her class but won easily by 1/2 length. She was previously placed at her first two starts when finishing 3rd to Bruxaar (also out of a Woodbine Farm mare - Kindergarten) and then an unlucky 4th when blocked for room.

Home bred Roulyn also ran a fast finishing 3rd at Awapuni on the sane race card.

Bruxaar runs a great 4th placing in Group I Levin Classic 3 Dec 2007
Bruxaar ran a very creditable 4th when beaten two 1/2 necks into 2nd place in his first start over 1600m and in his first stakes race.

His dam Kindergarten has been served by Chianti and his 1/2 sister - Gimmeawink is to be served any day to Darley - Victoria new season sire - Gonski.

Somethinaboutlaura (by Dance Floor) wins US$1 million 3 Dec 2007
Somethinaboutlaura won her 17th race and 12th stakes win when winning the Golden Gate Pacific Heights Stakes over 2000m on Saturday 1 December 2007. This great mare has won over US$1 million and is Dance Floor's highest stakes winner.

Gimmeawink - Bruxaar's 1/2 sister purchase 27 Nov 2007
This week we have purchased Gimmeawink - a 1/2 sister to the promising 3 year old galloper Bruxaar. She will be mated with Darley's young Darley stallion Gonski and will then be shipped back to New Zealand.

Good and sad news 27 Nov 2007
Bruxaar (Xaar ex our mare Kindergarten) has impressed with 3 successive wins and on Thursday 29th November he competes against the best 3 year olds in New Zealand in the Group I Levin Classic Stakes. We wish all his connections the best of luck.

Sadly we lost our young Zabeel mare - Dance Forever recently foaling a 60 kg bay filly to Castledale. She was bleeding internally and sadly she was put down. When you have livestock you also have dead stock. This was one of my saddest days as a breeder.

A Great week of Racing 9 Nov 2007
New Zealand's influence at the 2007 Victorian Racing Carnival has been immense, and it proves that NZ raised stock are impressive horses.

2007 Auckland Cup Connection & History 7 Mar 2007
Woodbine Farm has two past connections to the result of the 2007 Auckland Cup.

Congratulations to the winner Prized Lady . We were the underbidder on this filly as a yearling at the KIII Sale. I was bidding on the telephone via our trainer - John Wheeler when the filly was knocked down for $13,500. Our mobile phone connection was not the best while we were bidding and the rest is history. We actually tried to buy this filly for more money but the purchaser - Mr Wallis would'nt sell. - So well done.

Our second connection was with the mare Genebel who was 2nd at her previous start splitting Luckshan (who finished 3rd in today's Cup) and Prized Lady (3rd) in the ARC Auckland Cup Prelude race. Genebel broke down in training on Saturday. We own her mother Twinklebelle.

Both these mares were bred by Don McLaren of Auckland.

Lucky Eight for Kismet on Chinese New Year 22 Feb 2007
Thoroughbred News website - 20th February 2007 reports

"Seven-year-old Kismet is no world-beater but he is certainly your hard-working money spinner that any owner would love to lay their hands on.
The Auric Stable-owned galloper by Straight Strike out of Lugano brought in win number 8 from 56 starts to ring the till close to $218,000, a more than handsome return on his original purchase price of NZ$75,000.

Ridden by Matthew Kellady, the Don Baertschiger-trained galloper settled at the rear while West Eight (Jainullah Farook), Early Bird (Eurico da Silva) and Daring Mellifont (Danny Chee) traded places in front. The tempo cranked up a notch 800m out, and it was precisely at that moment that Kellady decided to wake his mount up.

Kismet made a sweeping run five wide and by the home turn, he had the leaders in his line of fire. Meanwhile stablemate Mr Fibs with Noel Callow throwing everything in the battle had found daylight and was putting himself a few lengths clear of the chasing pack.

But Kismet, though laying in in the concluding stages, was going a shade better, defeating Mr Fibs by one length on the line to give Baertschiger a wonderful quinella.

Callow, though disappointed he found one better, saw the outcome as a far more important result for the stable.

"I heard Matty scream ‘Come on King’ as he went past me, but it’s a great quinella for Donny," said Callow, who has been nicknamed "King Callow" by some sections of the media owing to his high success rate at Kranji.

"That’s the way he races. Put him to sleep early and work home hard," said Kellady who has now scored three wins, all for his master, Baertschiger.

"On straightening, I knew he couldn’t lose."

Meeting Tony Santic - of Makybe Diva fame 11 Jul 2006
My wife and I attended the Australian Racing Hall of Fame dinner last week in Melbourne.

While there I had the pleasure of speaking to Tony Santic and we had common horse news of mutual interest. I informed Tony that we co-own the only Riverman broodmare at stud in NZ - Spontaneous Miss and that she is in foal to Chianti (full brother to Desert King). Tony advised me that in his view Riverman mares are the best in the world, and that their off spring get better with age.
I asked him about his Group III winning mare Smyzter's Rivalry and he said that she was his second best winner to date. I advised him that we own much of her family including two 1/2 sisters to her dam - Contest.
I also asked Tony if he was considering Zabeel as a consort for Makybe Diva this spring. He said that he would sending two mares to Patrick but he wouldnt commit himself just yet.
I believe that stallions like Red Ransom or Elusive Quality could be the stallion for this great mare's first covering.

Somethinaboutlaura has won and been placed in all her seven 2006 starts all of which have been stakes races, including her win by 8 lengths in the Foster City Hcp LR over 1600 metres at Bay Meadows in February.

Somethinaboutlaura also made headlines when she topped and set a record price at the Fasig Tipton Kentucky Winter Sale on February 12th 2006 for a price of US$375,000. This is the highest price ever paid for any of Dance Floor’s progeny. She was purchased by three people including prominent Kentucky breeder John Sikura (owner of Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms).

In January 2006 Dance Floor sired 5 new maiden winners from his US sired crops more than any other US based stallion. In the first six months of 2006 Dance Floor has sired 37 winners in four countries – Macau and Malaysia (from his NZ crops) and Mexico and the US (from his US crops).

From his previous NZ crops Dance Floor has sired 107 winners which represents an excellent 72% winners to starters. Cheval Stud’s Frank Drummond states that Dance Floor is in very good health and he is not surprised with the race successes of his horse’s US runners, as his progeny get better with age.

Dance Floor is standing the 2006 season at Cheval Stud at a fee of $2,500."
